Call for Abstracts (now CLOSED)
As Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 14th International Symposium on the Maillard Reaction (IMARS-14), I and the President of IMARS would like to invite you to submit abstracts for presentation at the IMARS-14 conference. IMARS-14 will be a virtual on-line conference. Accepted abstracts may be presented as a short talk (10 min) in the main agenda or as a poster with audio commentary in the virtual poster exhibition, as advised by the abstract review committee. Presenters will be able to respond to questions posed by delegates in on-line Q & A at specified times during the meeting.
We will also be presenting and inviting input into the Doha 2021 Glycation Declaration – a statement of the “Grand Challenges in glycation research” to which the glycation research community commit ourselves to advance and progress in the coming years.
We encourage you to join us at IMARS-14, submit abstracts on glycation research for presentation - Late breaking abstract submission is still live - and we look forward to welcoming you to Qatar, live and on-line, September this year.

Receipt of Abstract
Late-breaking abstracts can only be submitted by above procedure and MUST be submitted by 31st July 2021 24:00 h Doha time (AST). The outcome of review will be notified by 7th August 2021. The decision of the abstract review committee is final. If the abstract is accepted, one or more authors must be registered for IMARS-14 conference and present the work in the format advised. If a poster presentation is requested, poster and audio files must be uploaded to the conference website by 24th August 2021. Abstract submission is now CLOSED

Conditions for abstract submission
Abstracts submitted on Human Studies:
The study must have been reviewed by the Local Ethics Committee and therefore been performed in accordance with the ethical standards laid down in the Helsinki Declaration (see World Medical Association: https://www.wma.net/what-we-do/medical-ethics/declaration-of-helsinki/). The box must be ticked in the template indicating this. |
Abstracts submitted on Animal Studies:
The study must have been carried out along the “Principles of laboratory animal care” (NIH Publication no. 85-23, revised 1985) and according to the national law, if applicable. The box must be ticked in the template indicating this. |
Each author can be listed up to TWO TIMES as the PRESENTING author (presenting author is always the first named author in the author block) on two abstracts. Presenting authors may be co-authors of other abstracts. Abstracts are welcome from members and non-members of IMARS. The abstract must be submitted in English. Your abstract submission must adhere to the following structure:
- The maximum number of characters is 3,200 (excl. spaces) including the title and the author block.
- Please enter your name and the names of co-authors as given in the example below. Start each name with a capital letter and continue in lower case. After this, add brief author affiliations (department, center or unit, organization, city, country) linked to author names by superscript numbers 1,2 etc.
- Please structure the abstract. Enter each section into the corresponding text field with the provided sub-headings in bold (Background and aims:, Materials and methods:, Results: and Conclusion:). Please use one or two sentences to describe the methods. The results must include hard data and statistical analysis, as relevant.
- One table OR one graph may be included in the abstract and are to count as 400 characters of the total character allowance.
- Please use generic names for drugs (no trademarks).
- Please include up to 5 keywords for indexing.
